Hi all,

Just have a quick question you all, I'm looking at an outex housing and have two options. #1 housing without the flash sleeve or #2 with a flash sleeve. If you buy the housing without the flash sleeve you can not add the sleeve later so my question to you all is should I get the housing with or without the flash sleeve. The majority of what I will be doing is indoor pool shooting for my daughter's swim team. I have never shot swimmers underwater in a pool before so I don't know if my speedlite will make a difference or not or if I would even need it?

Thanks in advance,

Cory

Cory - I am a diver and have done a bit of underwater photography with a housed camera w flash and a Go Pro but don't have enough knowledge to answer your question. I would post it on a site like scubaboard.com in the photography forum.

John's right best to ask where there are people that might be in the know.

My limits so far are with a GoPro snorkelling have not tried anything more ambitious.

Just my thoughts though, as you said if you get it without the flash bag it cannot be added later if you want it.

If you get it with the optional flash bag you don't have to use it but you have the option to do so if you decide.

The Outex housings max depth is IP08 tested to 1 atmosphere (30') or less so should be OK in a pool but not in open water dives.

They also mention it won't protect the camera in heavy surf 6' or higher.

EWA Marine housings are similar plastic bag design but supposedly rated from 2  to 5 atmospheres (60' to 150') depending on model.
