Judging by the quality of this shot, I'd say you're ready to go over to the dark side, I mean Lightroom.  At this point are you shooting in RAW?

That's a fantastic shot!!  Your timing is perfect.  I shoot my kids playing sports all the time, and it's always a challenge to get the ball as part of the action.  Well done.

I've been at it for a few years now, and still shoot in Shutter Priority mode with my low-end d3300 and let the camera do the rest (although I do set an upper limit on ISO to avoid the grainy ones).
