Good day!

 

I was out shooting the other night.  tried these of the some palms.  I would like to hear some CC on these I am very interesed on what you all think about the composition and which one you perfer.

Hello JdMac.

Were you using on-camera flash?

The detail is good in both, - sharp etc.,

My criticism would be that like a lot of my own stuff, the photos lack context.

I would be nice to see where the trees fit in their wider environment.

Of the two images, I prefer the first for clarity, lighting and composition but like Roderick suggests above, I agree that it needs more context.

Impressive.
I bet that there are lots of photographic possibilities that could involve that tree.
 
I know that its not particularly relevant, but here's a link to Fstoppers where a gut uses a drone and a flashgun to photograph a lighthouse.
The idea of firing multiple times with a flash to illuminate different parts of a subject and then merging the shots was an big eye opener for me.
