I have a road close by me that has tons of character. Its always dark even on the sunniest days and very busy with no place to park for a long way. I ended up driving down this road a half dozen times trying to get a period with no other cars. Of coarse it was pretty blah when I loaded it in the computer so I decided (I need PP practice anyway) to play around some.

Took 1 image with the black top road, took another at a different place with just a dirt road and combined them in PS. Added a little hue/saturation adjustment to the greens.

Any CC welcome.

Too much, too little, just crap????

What else could be done? It is a cool road to me with all the overhanging trees and Spanish moss hanging down.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, I have no PP skills , thus no help whatsoever, and am in envy of yours, nice work Terry.

The combo works really well for me, causes me to want to wander along there to see what's round the bend..

The third image would have been great but for the overly saturated foliage that makes it look unnatural. I would also make the shadows a tiny bit lighter. You are on your way!

Third shot is amazing, a great walk could take place there (looks like it has).  I agree with KG but needs very minimal tweeting IMHO.  Nice work.

Yes, I agree with K that the foliage (especially on the right side) looks overly saturated and too green. Other than that, very nice job! :)

Thanks for the comments.

The first 2 images are blended to make the 3rd. I took the dirt road and put in place of the blacktop.

I'll turn down the greens a little and bring up the shadows..

Great job, Terry. I agree with Doug that it will only take a couple of minor tweaks to become a great image. Don't lighten the shadows too much, just a tiny bit.

I see what you guys are saying on the unnatural greens. It didn't look that bad when I converted it but still too much. Here is another try toned down some.

Thank everyone.

I actually preferred your first more saturated image. Since it's gone past a straight photo into a created image may as well go all in. You might even darken it a bit and add some mist into it. The one thing I think you need to take back from the original though is the slight bend or curve at the end of the road. In your new image, it looks like the road goes straight and then just stops but your original of the paved road has a curve off to the left and the one of the dirt road curves off to the right. I'd try to get one of those curves back into the image. It's a really beautiful road so I can see its appeal.
