Hello.  I picked up a copy of this lens but I am wondering if I should have opted to for the Zeiss 16-70mm lens instead.  I realize the focal lengths are different but I almost think I should have gotten a better mid range zoom than the kit lens I currently own before I opted for a specialty zoom like the 10-18mm.  I definitely need a mid range zoom for what I shoot.

Thoughts? Does anyone use the 10-18 lens and also what are folks using for the 16-70 focal lengths?

I have a 10-18mm for my canon and I use it for landscape and indoors shoots. 16-70mm or similar range are basic all-around zoom range and normally comes in camera kits. My NEX5T came with 16-55mm and my canon came with 18-135mm.

The 10-18 f/4 from Sony is an APC size glass.  I hear great things about it.  However, if you're looking for primes and the benefit they can bring then you may want to consider the Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 or the Rokinon 14mm f/2.  I personally chose the Zeiss Touit 12mm for the autofocus feature that will be useful for me for video work.  The Rokinon is a manual focus lens only and is a highly praised lens, especially for the price.
