Welcome to the forum Michael, I have looked at your site and the biggest thing I would say is that your images need to be better, only put your best images on your site, the site is quite basic/amateurish and needs more work on it.

Also, the name of your site is off putting, I would change it ASAP.

Chimpy.

Hi Michael,

Getting going and finding what you need to do is always the hardest part.

I can give you some site SEO pointers.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) wise in the <head> section

site title is not set

<title>set a relevant site and/or page title </title>

Relevant SEO meta tags are not present or appropriately set

<META name="description" content="site description">

<META name="keywords" content="pile,of,relevant,keywords">

Lack of text, google and other search engines index and rank by the text they can read,

they cannot read images so see noting at all with just images on a site.

No attached blog, google seems to love indexing active blogs and the things they link to.

Might recommend to

Poke around the http://squarespace.com portfolio  provider Tony&Chelsea recommend for some ideas!

Or for an inexpensive image host try http://lightrocket.com they are based out of Asia,

I'm trialling them now as a possible replacement for my http://photoshelter.com image host.

Note PhotoShelter publishes a ton of helpful "Free (they want your email address)" business guides for  photographers

Best info that I can give you is to review other professionals websites. Learn from them. Then only post your best photos after you retouched them. It's very tough getting started. Your website unfortunately is not up to a pro-level. I wish you the best of luck.

If you want to see a full SEO analysis use an analysis site like www.site-analyzer.com

http://www.site-anal...m#report-page-1

If you are not up to doing the site grunt work (and who is, I'd rather be working on images) of setting up a business grade site. Then a portfolio site like those from  http://squarespace.com  or a self hosted WordPress site with a purchased template like those from Graph Paper Press and a SEO plugins will get you up and running fairly quickly.

After that all you need to do is regularly upload fresh content, (both image and text!)

Then actively promote it with a constant stream of biog and social media posts.

Unfortunately keeping a web site active and prospering consumes a lost of time and effort.
