My FE 55mm F1.8 lens came in this morning. That was fast and I did not pay for faster shipping! The lens looks like new in all respects. I'll try it out with some shots later, I hope.

As soon as I take a shot worthy I will for sure. Also When using Lightroom what magnifier rate do you use and do you use the same preset you gave me to share photos here? Thanks for all the help.

I'm always all over the place depending on what I'm doing.  Everywhere from fit to screen, to 1:1, to 2:1.

And yeah, the files I upload here are the exact same settings I use for all my sharing.  Here you can see what it looks like before the forum kills it:        http://boostedperspe...night-531170642

Thank you sir, it was done with everything you have.
A7II, FE55, Lightroom

And yeah, I've been trying not to think about it. Wondering if this signifies a new A camera arrival. A7RII or A9.

Is it proper to ask what settings you used to get that exposure? I guess I should be happy I got a deal on the lens but I have to confess, I called Best Buy today since I discovered I'm an "Elite" customer which gives you 30 days price protection and only a few hundred from being an "Elite Plus" customer which gives you 45 days price protection. So technically I'm only 15 days out of the 30 day time frame and right on the mark for the 45 day mark. It was worth my time to try. Another bummer is the new Lightroom is out right after I bought 5. Figures, if you really want to get frustrated, try to contact Adobe and try to ask for the upgrade!

I wouldn't be surprised, We should be able to buy a backup body for $80.00 bucks in a few more months.  :(

I'm am an Elite member myself, and when I got the A7II the rumor mill was going nuts with talk of the A9.  I thought "I've got 45 days, well see what happens"  Fast forward to now, and still nothing yet.  AS for Lightroom, I actually just caved and did the $10 a month CC subscription.  $120 a year for an up to date copy of Lightroom and Photoshop.  Not really all that terrible if you use them enough.

Thanks for the metadata! As far as the technology changing and price dropping I understand that and I'm not really concerned about having the latest and greatest but one month! Come on!!

Hey fellows. I've been busy with the car and haven't taken too many photos. The few I have taken are just not that sharp. I'm sure it's me but would love to know what I'm doing wrong. I've learned the sweet spot in a lens is F4/F5.6 so I'm trying that. I've tried to use my phone with an app to trip the shutter. Any other tips would be helpful.

Look at your settings for one of the ones you're talking about. What's the shutter/iso/aperture?

Okay I'm home from work, can go into further detail.  The photos I posted, you liked, and thought were sharp?

Lets get the basic stuff out of the way.  Lighting was good, focus was correct, etc?

This lens is actually pretty amazing at F/1.8, outstanding at F/2.8, and just insane beyond.

Is it possible that I'm not using the proper focus settings to get the sharp photos I'm trying to achieve. I was going to experiment a little more. There are so many choices as far as camera settings. I have been setting my focus area to wide, focus mode to AF-C. Am I in the right ball park. I know there are different focus modes for moving objects but I trying to get a razor sharp image on a stationary object for now, just for a learning experience. Thanks in advance for your help.

Okay try AF-S, center.  Take a shot outside in good light, F/2.8 - F/5.6.  See what you come up with.

About lens adapters for the Sony a7mkII-- I've mounted Konica and Pentax screw-mount lenses to the body. No problem, if you're used to manual focusing. NOTE to set the image stabilization to match the focal length of any vintage lens you mount (it's in the manual but hard to find).
-- IMHO, look for adapters with metal, not plastic, mounting points on both ends. Oddly, some of the more expensive ( B&H) adapters are lower-quality. Enjoy!

Hi all! I hope you're having a great summer. Just wondering how you clean your lenses? Do you use a lens pen or a micro cloth with a liquid? Thanks for your response.

Both!

I have a pen and use it for the inner and outer elements, but I'll use a cloth on the outer, and camera when needed.  I also use a little blower.
