When I use a softbox or umbrella with my off camera speedlights what settings do I need to set the flash zoom to. Right now I set flash zoom to manual and lock it at the widest setting but I just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

For the softbox i set the flash zoom to the widest setting and on the umbrella when i use it as a shoot through i am careful not to let the light spread to wide causing it to spill off to the side. I don't know if it is possible but it is something to look for when setting up your lighting.
