Just ordered this lens. I wish Tony would review this and the 40-150mm/f2.8 lens on the EM-1 after firmware version 3 comes out. I am curious if it will change his opinion on CAF. For the record, I have been shooting college and HS football for years with Oly and getting great results. It took practice but my keeper rate with CAF is usually very high. I will soon get the 40-150 and have good expectations the combination will work well.

I find that the 40-150mm f2.8 focuses and tracks quite well. Better then my primes. I'm guessing they really pushed for high speed focusing with the lens, because it's almost as fast as the 12-40mm f2.8, and is miles ahead of the 75-300mm. Still requires good light though, and is a bit fussy when there is a lack of an edge to focus on--no magic here. That's pretty much to be expected for any camera though.

There is the 3.0 firmware update for the Olympus E-M1 later this month that will supposedly help C-AF even more.

I know Tony and others like to harp on the m4/3 cameras and their slower C-AF performance, but the E-M1 is going for about $1k used now. Of course if you compare it to a $3k Nikon D810, it is going to be slower for 3x the price, but a similar DSLR for the same price has pretty similar performance, and often a not-so-great optical viewfinder.

I felt like the CAF reviews they did with the EM-1 and EM-10 suffered from the lens they used. That is why I like to see them do it again but after the firmware update and with the pro lens. My experience has been very good with CAF on FT and mFT so far.

Actually i saw the EM-1 selling for just under 1K new.  I believe it was on Amazon.  Correction it was an add for a seller on Ebay.
