I'm getting a periodic error message when I'm shooting with my 7DII with Tamron 24-70 2.8 lens.  Causes me to have to turn off camera and restart.  Anyone else having this issue?

I just ran in to a web post talking about this last night, they are saying that some second or third party lens are having some , issues.

they say that canon has said in some cases that there will have to be a soft ware up grade, but they are not sure that it is the soft ware that is the problem.

go to canon service and ask them about the problem, they are pretty good with getting problems resolved.

Thanks.  I've searched it and seen it to be somewhat a common problem.  Error says "faulty communication with lens."  Prevents any shooting until you turn it off/on several times.  I've lost many shots because of it so I'm returning and buying the Canon 24-70.  Paying a premium, but at least I'll have confidence it will work.  Never liked the fit on the Tamron anyway....felt almost too snug on body.

That's the problem with third party lenses, you're depending on the camera manufacturers to update communication issues with other manufacturers equipment. Also there's no guarantee if you update to a new camera body that your old third party lenses will work.

I have 2 Tamron lens, and several Canon bodies. This error does occur on all bodies, but most often when I am shooting very fast or low light. I also have Sigma, never happened at all. And of course never on any Canon lens.

It can be a pain, however I do use multiple lens and there is a limit to my budget.... at least I've been told that anyway.

I own several Tamron lens and have had the error occur 2 or 3 times while shooting video with the 18-270mm on 70D body.
