Hi,

A company dealing for Nikon Singapore has spotted some of my football pictures on Flickr. They want to make an advertising campaign for the D7100, with pictures and portraits of hobbyists. Right now 2 of my images are shortlisted for a final selection.

The company ask me to work out my Copyright fees for the following:

"5.The  copyright fee for this image will cover worldwide usage over a period of 2 years, on print ads, out-of-home media and digital platforms. "

On top, they might spend a whole day with me shooting for a promotional video.

Most likely they will drop my pictures anyways, let's be honest, this are even not my favorites ones !

I have to say that I am both thrilled and scared at the same time. I never thought something like that would happen. I just open my Flickr account a month ago.

So my problem is that I really don't know what to answer and in particular how much to ask ?

Any advice / similar experience would be of tremendous help.

Many thanks in advance.

Greg this is fantastic!  What an honor and a nice validation of your photographic work.  Are they asking you for your price to license the images to them?  Are they asking for exclusive use of the images?  Wow, I really have no idea of a price range for something like this, but hopefully someone else here can make a suggestion.  Congrats!!!

If you go low they may go with you and the value of the client is worth more in the long run then a few bucks now. It would not hurt to ask them what is normal.

Many thanks for your answer. I will probably do what Keith suggests. It sounds the most reasonable, and I appreciate the recognition more than I really care about the money in that case...

I never ever imagined something like that could happen, but anyways I am still only shortlisted and they might drop my pictures at the next step...

I'll keep you guys posted, whatever is the outcome !

Since I said I'll keep you posted, here is finally the outcome.

After a few exchange, it seems that my picture was in the top 20, and they proposed 400 USD. It sounded good to me.

However, I have not heard from them since almost a month, so I think it is dead :(

A bit impolite from them, I think. Except if they still consider it, but I have doubts...
