hey guys,

just thought i'd share this awesome camera phone with you.
it's the new sony xperia z1 and it's going to come out end of september.

you can keep it for 30 min underwater for up to 1.5 meters.

here's the phone:

it's got a 1/2.3” 20.7 MP sensor (compact camera sensor size) and should be pretty usable for nice pool shots!

I know zilch about underwater, but what I think would be interesting would be the new lens/camera accessory that Sony has announced in a waterproof package.  Then you could lower or position the lens underwater while controlling it and taking pictures from the phone that's coupled to it up in the good ol' O2.  Lots of interesting scenarios apart from underwater, as well.

Don't fall for this marketing trick. All these waterproof Smartphones are only waterproof for about the first 2 months. After them the closing parts which are made from a kind of rubberplastic get porose and stop working properly. This results in a completely broken phone with no warranty left cause water damage isn't included...

i think so, yes :D
i'm gonna get this phone! :>

not because of the waterproof-ness (we have no pool anyway...), but because of the sensor and lens it's got built in.
