Hi guys,

I'm new into photography and just recently purchased a Canon DSLR (APS-C sensor) with the EF 50mm f/1,8 II lens. However, I am suffering to shoot buildings and landscape, since my lenses and my sensor are cropping most of the image.

I want your opinion on a new lens: should I get a wide angle lens, like the Canon 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM.

Or should I get a normal zoom lens, like the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM?

Most of my landscape will be shot during the day.

I am mostly shooting portrait, which has been good with the 50mm lens, and landscape.

Hope you can help me...

Thanks!

For landscapes don't use the ultrawide lens. The background will appear extremely small. The 17-70 is ideal for landscapes. Architectural photos is another matter, which is what I recently bought the 10-18 for. You can for landscapes normally take a series of pictures and make a panorama.

I can strongly recommend the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 Contemporary. It has a very good built quality, a really useful range and it's faster than the 10-18. It's my walk around lens and I'm really happy with it. I have a sample shot (macro) in this post: http://sdpcommunity....-a65/#entry9200

When I get home from work I can upload a sample landscape shot.
