Trying a different track this time, made a short video of the day trip with a slide show of some of the selects at the end.

Used the free version of the BlackMagic Design Davinci Resolve 14 video editor, thing works great after a ton of youtube training videos to learn how to use it!

Just a couple of Wild and Crazy guys from Sutton who went to Minden Wild Water Preserve in this cold snap we are in.

(oddly no one was running the rapids!)

I do not have the skill to even attempt to make a video, though I admit to watching plenty of Youtube landscape vids and have my own personal favourites in terms of presentation and educational value..

Thanks so much for making the effort to share in a different way from the norm here. Yup as you would expect there are aspects of your first effort that might be improved upon though the most prominent for me was that the vid scenes were  more like moving stills, in that a bit of panning might have provided the viewer with an opportunity to appreciate the location a tad more...?

Yup all to easy to be a critic sitting here in my armchair Peter..

I like it Peter!  I especially liked the blue tint to the ice nestled back a bit is one of the stills.  Nice crunch/squeak to the snow in the beginning.  Makes me miss being in the states even though you're in Canada.  Looks like a good day to fire up the wood-burner.  Thanks - I appreciate your sharing it!

Thanks, Peter.

Those circular snow structures in the river are fascinating.

Thanks Guys!

GeeDee, would love to do pans and movements, but don't own a slider, crane, gimbal  or fluid video head which let you do them without causing the video to be jerky.

Yes trying to do video comes with a whole new pile of equipment issues. Including the lenses, which for video are de-clicked and silence so you can change aperture and focus while filming.

Not sure  I want to go that route yet, all that video stuff is expensivish!

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my inexpert CC Peter. Seems like a drone may be a prerequisite too...????

If you might care to beam up Renegade Scot on Youtube you may find interest in the chap there who is/was essentially a hill walker/wild camper who in time had a desire to record aspects of the scenery and his adventures, thus looked into how best to do that and in the process has tried out a number of mostly "budget" photographic devices, SLR, mirror-less and even smartphone, he shares his thinking and seeks advice/input on many of the devices he has used and is trying to sell nothing... He seems by now pretty skilled in the make up of his vids though perhaps not a polished performer like Thomas Heaton...Yet..(-:  I would be interested in your thoughts should you beam him up Peter.

Now that's dedication! Just looking at moving water and snow makes me shiver. Loved the video and the stills look really good.

I spent my summers as a kid up your way - my Grandfather had a cottage just outside Jackson's Point and I can remember - this would probably be back in the late 50's - when a Chinese restaurant opened in Sutton and what a treat it was to drive in for dinner.  My God, I can't believe I'm that old

Great short video Peter! I like the first piece of music, mystery and foreboding in a (somewhat) dangerous location. Beautiful scenes and stills. Thanks for bundling up, trekking, and suffering through the cold to capture and share these images.

Golden Dragon restaruant is still there and open! Used to be a Christmas treat for the family to go there years ago  :D

The old Bonnie Boats marina & harbor in Jacksons Point just got sold to a developer so that bit of history is about to vanish.

my Grandfather had a cottage just outside Jackson's Point and I can remember - this would probably be back in the late 50's - when a Chinese restaurant opened in Sutton and what a treat it was to drive in for dinner.

Thanks GeeDee, I'll look him up, I do a lot of youtube surfing in the winter for some reason or other, mostly too cold to go out.

I am subscribed to Thomas Heaton and Adam GIbbs (he does use a drone a fair bit)

One other thing I did not do in the video is color grading and applying LUTS, mostly because I have no idea what they are or how to do them :)

Yes a drone would be the thing (if I could convince the wife). Though Ontario Parks are listed as No Drone zones by Transport Canada and their use is banned in them.

People still do try to fly there, but are risking those annoying fines when caught.
