That was a storm passing over Great Sand Dunes National Park. You can see a single human in the photo to provide a sense of scale.

This storm threatened my hike to High Dune, but we were able to wait it out and watch it pass without issue. Forty-five minutes later found me and my hiking partner at the top of the dune enjoying a beautiful late afternoon sun casting lovely shadows over the dunes. It's not an easy hike going up a 700ft pile of loose sand, but it was a wonderful view over the dune field.
