Hello everyone. This time not the actual knights tournament - next week if anyone wondered - but rather a medieval royal rumble.

We've got a little show of Tatars attack on our city from the XIII century. This time there was no one on one tournament but 10 vs 10 with the rule there are no rules... So we had a chance to see the 'real' medieval war. What are my thoughts? Well, war reporters and photographers at that time had a hell of a hard job! Everywhere is something happening. All of the place is filled with bodies in pure rage. There are attacks from the front, side, behind, even bottom. You have to be careful not to come to close.

How to document that?! Not surprising that any records from those centuries were so 'general' ;)

Anyway you're here for photos so enjoy.

As always 70-200mm (I cannot live without this lens...) between 1/320s and 1/400s. f/2.8-3.2.

Lots of photographic interest and challenges to be had at that event, your images provided an opportunity to share, thanks for posting.

Dramatic as hell !

I bet those XIII century war reporters had a job trying to produce engravings and wood-cuts at 30 frames per second for the local broadcast media.  :P

In frames 9 and 10 I think you captured a tourest from the future who's travelled back in time to attend the battle

Great action !

Thank you. This was a true challenge. I was prepared for the small area of fights rather full of tactics not the fun without any rules on the half size of the whole available ground.

This is when something looooong is needed. Co this time I should use something like 24-200. Cause action was 1.5m in front of me and in the next couple of seconds 20m. I just stick to 70-200 cause usually the last fights was somewhere away of the crowd so zoom was just right. 70 of course won't let me catch some very close action but, you can't have everything, right?

David, we all do.. We all... I have no memories of anything like that when I was a kid. I would take part in it. Even to give them swords and shields. Just to be part of this show. And squire is also needed!

geedee no problem. More to come tomorrow. As well as general shots from outside of the event.

Roderick. Remember, not 30fps. 29.97! Much easier! And they always had a little break to catch up during commercials :D

As for photos 9 and 10... Damn... I need to send them to some UFO sites. You're right! :D

It was really fun. Again, if you will have a chance to visit such an event just don't think. Get your kids, leave your wives - cause a woman and a knight usually didn't ended well - and go! You won't regret!
