You have to reduce the file size. Shorten the long side to 2,500 or 3,000 or so.

Thanks Mark. I finally got it to upload, but I had to drastically reduce the size and now the image quality is all messed up!

Looks like you got the exposure just right to capture the sky and the effect of all the lights, a very nice pano indeed.  I tend to go for 800 pixels on the long edge when reducing the size of my pics for posting which tends to produce a file size of circa 500-600kb I note your pic is reported as just over 62kb..Perhaps the quality issues you mention are related to that...? Thanks for posting.

Yeah, that file error haunts us all from time to time.

Not sure if its caused by the client or the server or if its a timing thing.

Nice picture, in spite of having to reduce the size.

Great sky

I can't wait to see the better iq version but I get the idea and it looks great. I usually upload with 1250 on the long edge but have recently been unhappy with the iq. Uploading from Flickr using the bbcode and the link button shows better iq.

Great panoramic, although as you say, the IQ gets dropped significantly here on the site.

I just uploaded my first images yesterday, and I uploaded images of about 1MB. However, on the site, they show up as being between 100 and 200 KB. Quite the drop in IQ, on a photo forum...  :(

Are there tricks to improve the size of the images? @geedee mentioned getting sizes of about 5-600k by resizing prior to upload. I haven't tried that, but if that works, maybe that is the solution. Otherwise embedding from another site (like Flickr) might be the best way to go.

Unless they have changed, these are the forum rules for posting images that I made a note of...

Photo size of 1500 x 1200 pixels or less

File size of less than 3MB

JPEG format

No special characters in file name (this one has gotten me several times!!)

Hope this helps

Bob

Are you sharpening for the web?  If you are exporting from Lr that is an option you'd typically want to check.  Many auxiliary programs for Photoshop offer a similar option, all of which attempt to counteract the loss of clarity when images are compressed for the web.

This is what I do using Imgur.  Trying to do it with this site's option is hit and miss at best.
