Saw this interesting tortoiseshell cat the other day out at lake Martin.  He seemed to be perfectly camouflaged with his enviroment of mud and rocks under absolutely the worst light.

Yep - I would never know this image was ISO - 6400. Well done with the iq and nr. I have 2 Tortie's, both rescues. One, Taco, was found by the dumpster at a Mexican restaurant and is a good cat. The other, Nugget, found by a chicken processing plant and is a poorly behaved cat to put it mildly.

How do you upload from Flickr? What settings do you use and what size image do you upload to your Flickr account? I always notice that images posted here from Flickr have better iq than those uploaded directly.

Thanks guys.  To link in your photo from flickr John do the following:

1) upload your photo to flickr in the usual way but always upload jpegs you make yourself.  Anything else and flickr will convert and store it as jpeg but using THIER QUALTIY SETTINGS.  Images that are uploaded already as jpegs are left untouched so use the highest quality you want.

2) from your photostream click on the image you want.

3) at the bottom right (without scrolling down) you will find 4 icons.  select the middle "share photo" icon.

4) then select the BBCode tab.

5) select image size.  med 800x534 or large 1024x 683 works best.

6) highlight and copy code into your post using the link button.

Thanks for the information Grim. Why does it have better IQ when posting here from Flickr than direct from pictures file? What size file do you upload to Flickr? I tried the BBCode link with image and it did not work. I will try with the link button. Thank you 2x.

Arr bless what a lovely moggy Grim, you are getting the best out of your 7D II. I'm not surprised at the quality at 6400 ISO as a Canon user.

Thanks guys. John, upload the highest quality jpeg PS/LR will output to flickr. When posting on SDP the BBCode will be whatever size you choose. med 800x534 or large 1024x 683 works best. When using the link button on SDP it will initially only show text after inserting said link. If you preview the post you should now see the photo.

Not sure exactly but apparently there's some additional compression going on via SDP when uploading directly. It's a shame considering this is a photography site but I guess bandwith and memory can get expensive.
