First of all John, getting the  Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S may have been your worst advice. Since getting that lens the sun has not come out. It has been rain and or overcast everyday!  Stupid Florida summer!

Actually, I love the lens and will be using it to do graduation pics of my niece :-)

So no pic taking had some time to do some light room adventuring.  D500 200-500 f/5.6

1/400 sec at f/5.6 420mm ISO 100 +1/3EV

Thank you.  Cropped first one then just played with a lot of adjustments sharpened and contrasted the bird and a little Iris enhance. I also saturated the beak a little and a -3 on temp on the beak(to bring out the blue color).  Background NR 45, sharpness -2, highlights 38, tint -8, temp 7, and saturation 18.  I was trying to bout some color. it was looking flat to me in RAW

Scienticians have proved the link between the purchase of camera equipment and prevalence of rain in the photographer's location.

Great picture.

Chin up, and for god's sake don't stop bailing or we'll all drown...

I like the composition, background, wing position and exposure looks good. 1/400 is really slow for a bif and it shows up in the original but you were able to get it reasonably sharp in post. Well done.
