Have any of us SDP-ers been to Mach Loop, somewhere in Wales? Never heard of it before. Several YouTube videos, just wondering if any cool stills?

Geedee, I'm on it!
Easy Peasy Rod! Bring your 600mm and just make sure the pilot's eye is in focus! 😳
Is Wales close to either of you? Looks like nice landscape to boot!

Mark, "close" is a relative term and compared to your country, everywhere is close in Ireland and the UK ...(-:
If you like that type of landscape you might care to beam up NC 500 Scotland`s answer to Route 66.. well perhaps not...? (-:

Wales is just across the Irish sea, about 70 miles. On a very clear day you can just see it from the top of the hill/mountain behind "casa Rod".
Mark, I watched some more youtube videos of the Mach Loop. I'd swear the bloke in the back seat of one of those F15s had a fondue set on his lap....
Geedee - "The Great Glen".
Its better than it sounds, and it sounds out of this world.

Rod, I suspect the landscapes in our combined part of the planet are very similar overall... The Great Glen is not but a ditch compared to the Grand Canyon... (-: As I typed earlier..everything is relative (-:
I have driven part of the NC500 though before someone named it such and decided it should become a tourist attraction, even clambered up Stac Polly, incorrect spelling though I spelt it as it sounds, not in it`s true Gaelic spelling. The Stac is in the Geological Park (another new invention for tourists) which seemingly has some of the oldest rocks in the world (?) Apparently the mountains in the region were higher than the Himalayas though worn down over millennia by the climate... Yeah, well it rains a lot in this little country..(-:
I took some pics during my stay (2003) in the area of Wester Ross on my Nikon E990, some from the top of the Stac .. hope I am not getting too far off topic.. If so just SHOUT at me.
1056 jpeg has Stac Polly centre frame. 0817 and 0825 are taken from the top of the stac.

A lot can happen in 400 million years. I think the other end of the mountain chain is today known as the Appalachians.
Stunning photos, Geedee. The middle one is jaw dropping.

Rod, should you desire to see some "real" photographs of the area try beaming up Colin Prior, as he has photographed the area extensively think he may be in some Youtube vids on the area too....

The Loop is a bucket list item for me. I've watched just about every video made. My favorite is the F15 squadron, the Grimm Reapers. Those big Pratt/Whitney turbofans have their own special sound.

Geedee, Beautiful images. My fav is the 3rd one. What a fantastic countryside!
Rod, "Elwin R" has 33 videos on his YouTube channel. He must camp there! I can't find it now, but one of them starts out with a shot of several photographers quickly turning in unison with their telescoping lenses to their eyes as a jet flies by. It's pretty humorous.
