I have been working a lot in post, and hopefully I have things worked out.  This is just a green dragonfly taken with my 300mm lens; no extension tubes.  CC Welcome as usual!

Wow. Crystal clear and beautiful colors! I like the contrast between the lit-up dragonfly and the dark blue background. Well done!

Killer shot, Jonny.

Is that white area on its eye a highlight or part of the animal ?

Thanks fellas!

Rod, that's the reflection of the sun or the sky. It's not part of the animal - it's the catch-light in its eye ;)

Jonny, another stunner, you have a definite skill in capturing insects.

Thanks Gedee!  I have been racking my brains in post, and I have found that Corel is not good software for Olympus cameras or at least creating detailed JPG files.  I have gone through some of my past posts, and I have made significant improvements.  I still have more to work on, but I am somewhat happy with the detail in this small sized image.  It's challenging to find out what works in post.  It's progress, but it's a slow road.

Wish I could help Jonny but as an old selective Luddite, my PP knowledge is absolutely minimal, I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 for nothing other than BASIC adjustments such as cropping etc.  I suspect Elements may be on Ver 20 by now..(-:     Seems  to me that you are sure getting to grips with the technology and I suspect that PP skills are absolutely key to creating some of the photographic masterpieces that we are all likely to admire from time to time.

I'm gonna put this out there:

Jonny, in light of the fact you photograph insects, you could change your tag  to..... (wait for it)

"lord of the flies" ?

Just sayin' is all.... B)

Come to think of it, Hans could lay equal claim to that title.

Gedee - Pictures posted are the best teacher for me.  Keep posting!  You've been a huge help with your posts and CC as well as the other

members of this forum.

Rod - I spent tree days at the river photographing birds and not a single shot worth posting.  The air here is so bad that all of the backgrounds look milky.  I am stuck with bugs.  I like them, but decent visibility at 2 meters is a typical day here; backgrounds ruin everytjiong.  I can't do what Hans does; he's a lot more patient than I am.
