Bill Pepas is the designated guy but I think his circumstances have changed.

Maybe we should get together and find someone who's willing/able to take on the task and then approach the forum admins people with our suggestion ?

Bill's never been on since December which isn't ideal.

I understand his circumstances have changed but something else really should be put in place.

Report back as soon as you hear something.  It's too bad that this place has become T&C's stepchild.  Maybe if they came here once in a while and talked about it more, more SDP facebook people would show up.  Lotsa' good people on the FB side.  It would be nice to have some of them here.

To keep this alive, which of you guys would consider becoming an Admin if it gets to that?  I've already disqualified myself.  If you've done it on another site, you know it can be a PIA.  However, this is a very small site with just about all good people.  Just the peripheral stuff that doesn't get taken care of in a timely manner makes us crazy.

I don't think the workload would be bad, just check in every so often.  Ideally, we'd have 2 named.  That way, we'd be fairly assured of coverage.  Like, say, one from the European side and one from the States.  Gives us near around the clock coverage.

David, make that call to Chelsea.  I think Siobhán's workload means she doesn't always respond immediately.

Last time Steve emailed Justin and it was fixed.

I agree that we do need an an administrator or a moderator.

I'm sure that T&C are buried with PMs and that there's a good chance that she'll either not see it or skip right over it.  It's painfully obvious that something needs done.

I agree that it's nice to have this place, especially for the price, but it does need someone around to provide basic maintenance.  It's very easy to do with this software package.  This is the same package that Cloudy Nights uses, but the Admin that does the IT stuff for the site is a real whiz.  We don't need someone like that, CN has about 100,000 members, but we need someone that can access the Admin menu to make the place a little nicer.

Hi guys,

I have experienced first hand the problems with the forum recently, I can say that it looks like T+C have very little to do with the forum these days, I contacted the admin of the forum after I was blocked out of the forum and was told by Siobhan and I quote.

"I'm sorry, we no longer manage the site at sdpcomunity. You might just want to create a new account, I know the forums are still active. We've moved all our book content over to Northrup.photo, so if you want to access that you'll need to create an account there. Thanks! Siobhan.

I have struggled to get on the forum for months after I was blocked from posting on topics? even after I created new accounts until tonight !! I wouldn't surprise me if there where other long time members of the forum who have had similar experiences as me?

Well, that's a backhanded answer.  They create the place, abandon it and don't say a word.  Sorry, I'm NOT impressed. I have half a notion to go to Northrop.photo and ask how long it'll be before they abandon that place as well.  Pathetic.

This forum doesn't generate $. The new darling is Patreon.

This forum isn't as sexy as Facebook.

Sorry if that sounded cynical.

True words lads, Bob, it's not cynical it's truth. For the last god knows how long it looks like the forum has be running without mods or admin? We should be grateful the site hasn't been closed completely?

It's a pity we couldn't run the site ourselves or better still set up our own or a Flikr site?

Setting up a new forum would be very simple to do, I already run one so know what's involved.

The cost for the 1st year would be peanuts.

Before we all up sticks and go our separate ways, lets see if we can get this forum back on track.

As Matt said, if we had an active administrator, a lot of the problems would disappear.

Chimpy, can you recall who you were dealing with when you got your account recreated ?
