Happy 2017 everyone!

Apparently there's been a company-wide trend for new sweaters called "Тёплые Звери" (Warm Creatures) during the holiday season, and many of our employees bought those.  There are deers, squirrels, wolves, bears, etc.  Julia picked up a sweater with an owl :)  Here's a shot I believe turned out pretty nice.  Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens @ f/3.5, 1/250, ISO 160.

Her skin and hair are beautifully done and the detail and texture in her jumper is so sharp.

Great colour harmony. :)

Did the shot take very long to set up ?

Thank you for kind comments guys!  This was taken a few weeks back when Christmas/New Years shopping was at its peak.

@Roderick, not at all.  I just told her to sit on a windowsill and look to the side.  Few shots were taken - this seemed to be the most successful one.  There is a big panoramic window on the top floor of our office building which lets a lot of light in.  Some previous portraits I had posted here were taken by the same window actually, just from different angles :)

@Geedee, I am blushing now  ^_^

Beautiful shot George.  I really like the hair highlights and the shadowing/lighting of the face.  I am trying to learn about lighting, and this is a wonderful illustration. Thanks!

Big thanks for all the comments!  Any feedback (positive, especially  :) ) builds more confidence and pushes to go on further.  Portrait seems to be the genre I have proven to be most proficient in.  I am usually more in favor of b&w when it comes to portraits, but for this one it seemed to be more practical to stay color.  I feel there's a lack of overall contrast between the darker and brighter areas.  Below is the original b&w photo.  Let me know which of the two you like better.

I agree with your assessment - the color one was/is the better choice.
