If you are going to shot portraits get used to shooting portrait orientation. This shot would benefit by eliminating the shoulder to the right. A flash set to a lower setting would soften the shadows on the left side of the subject.

It was shot without flash of course :)

 

Any info bout the best aspect ratio for portraits? I often finds 9:16 too tight. 10:16? 3:4? Or just anything that suits the shot?
