Burning steel wool on lake Superior.

Light streak is a channel marker light turned into a streak by me zooming the lens durng the 30+ second exposure.

Only one out of several dozen tries got the starbutst effect right at the end of the light streak!

ISO 100 , F/8, EF24-105L

Thanks! It was an interesting seminar I attended, when the night sky would not cooperate they gave a burning steel wool session instead.

I had no idea steel wool would ignite and burn that easily.

Apparently, a bit of steel wool and a battery is a good way to make a camp fire (or burn down your backpack if you keep them together in the same pocket)....

You can thank Bear Grylls for that nugget.

Yup creative indeed and worked a treat too.  Sure was surprised when I accidently sent a welding spark amongst a ball of steel wool many years back.... Think C&T did a section in the book where they used steel wool to create an interesting image too.
