If ever there was a place made for tone mapping, it's a machine shop.  They have a lot of CnC machines, but the good ole' lathe is my favorite!

Nice shot David, I have a similar lathe in my shop. It's a 17" Southland Turnado 1968 vintage. In the past all the machine tool manufactures loved battleship gray as a base color, boring :-)

I must take a few photos of our engineering shop.

Thanks David

Please do!  I really enjoy this kind of stuff.  I'll probably go back there and just watch for a couple of hours....and take the camera, of course. ;-)

Very nice.

Anyone else play Fallout 4?  It looks somewhat like one of the Workshops.

1/80th f16 ISO 4000 (auto), 24mm, Flash,

Nik HDR 016

Straight from camera into HDR,  No cleanup or noise reduction.

Dunno if the result is gritty realism or just poor workflow

Good stuff!  As you can tell from my shots above, I give it a bit more tone mapping to really bring out the "machine shopedness".  Your shot would be more pleasing to the "natural" crowd.  I, on the other hand, would like to see it in an overdone finish. :D

Hi Paul.

David is luring me to the dark side...

One more post, then I'm going to take the antidote.
